BIPV (Building-Integrated Photovoltaics)

The growing need for energy has led to harmful consequences as a result of the extensive use of fossil fuels. Despite the growth in the use of sustainable energy sources, such as wind turbines, solar panels on roofs and other solutions, the delivery of energy to city centers is as expensive as it is wasteful. And instead of using up the limited areas on skyscraper rooftops to generate energy, why not utilize their façades?

Modern skyscrapers have considerable surface areas that can be exploited to generate energy from renewable sources such as the sun and wind. As a Group that promotes sustainability, Aluminum Construction invests considerably in R&D of energy-creating elements embedded in the building envelope. Our line of advanced systems are highly efficient in producing and conserving energy while maintaining an elegant architectural appearance.

ALUMINUM CONSTRUCTION GROUP TECHNOLOGIES

Aluminum Construction develops and manufactures architectural Photovoltaic panels integrated into various façade systems of the group, so besides suppling excellent thermal, acoustic and constructive benefits, the façade will also generate energy and lead to net zero buildings – buildings that provide the energy they consume. Our PV panels are glass-glass modules with PV wafers placed in between the glasses. The panels allow various range of architectural appearances and affects by using advanced technologies and all range of colors and different patterns which result in maximum architectural flexibility while hiding the PV wafers. The PV panels can be manufactured in any size up to 2000X4000 mm and in any shape. They are designated for installation on all the spandrel areas of the building, which in high-rise towers sums up to thousands of square meters. The front glass of the PV panel is color printed using a unique technology, hiding the PV wafers and still allowing light transmittance for energy production with high efficiency of 12.5%-16.5%, results in the optimal method to gain from solar energy on buildings’ façade without compromising on the esthetics and overall look of the building. Our systems combine new solutions for energy storage and management for maximizing the benefits of energy produced, directing it whether for the building’s consumption or to the electricity grid.

Generating energy from wind is one of the most efficient and cost effective methods for electricity production. It is achieved by using wind turbines placed on buildings’ roofs where the wind is blowing constantly. The vertical wind turbine doesn’t emit any heat or gas and is placed on an area of a few square meters, while efficiently exploits the wind energy also in the evening when electricity production can’t be made from solar energy. The minimal cost of establishment and maintenance brings it to be an integral part of our sources for generating energy. Due to its unique structure the turbine is generating energy regardless the wind direction. The construction of the turbine is light and simple and when operating the turbine is not making any noise and doesn’t disturb the usual activity in the building, while it is generating more than 70 percent of wind energy into electricity with a cut in speed of 2 m/s.
